Curriculum:
Peter Schulthess is a
tenured professor for Distributed Systems at the University of Ulm,
Germany. From
1983 to 1989 he was a professor at the University of Augsburg, leading
early
research projects in ISDN communication. 1980-1983 he worked at the
Swiss
Federal Institute of Technology as an assistant professor. He spent
1979 as a
postdoctorate fellow with IBM Research at Yorktown Heights
investigating
automatic configuration services in advanced SNA networks. 1972-1978 he
worked
at the computing center of the University of Zuerich on topics in
computer
architecture. He holds a doctorate and a diploma in Electrical
Engineering from
the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. In 1972 he graduated as a
Master of
Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of
Technology.
Together with the members
of his research group he is currently pursuing projects in the area of
lean
systems design, fast start-up, distributed operating system, game
design,
interactive 3D-worlds and 3D-objects. He holds patents for
communication
devices, optical systems and DSM management.
