Short Description:
Helios is a distributed UNIX-like operating system for transputers. The user and programmer interfaces are similar to the ones of a real UNIX. The well-known C development language is supplied. The kernel implements a message-passing communication scheme in datagram mode. Messages are transmitted and received in mail-boxes named ports. The kernel deals with t he message routing and provides the processes with semaphores as synchronization tools. The other system functions are implemented as servers.
